I believe that every appointment is forming or strengthening a partnership. I value communication and shared decision making between my patients and I. I want to ensure my patients are educated and understand all of their options; so that together we can formulate a personalized treatment plan which is right for them. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, especially when we gather around a good meal. I am always on the lookout for new and interesting recipes to try. After a hearty meal I love being outdoors, I seize every opportunity I get to hike or be on a lake. I am also bookworm; I enjoy fiction and non-fiction alike. I always try to stay up on the latest research to continue to provide the best possible care for my patients.
I have experience in working in several areas of nursing including correctional nursing, home health nursing, and orthopedic spine. This taught me how to care for different populations with a vast variety of medical issues. These skills have given me the ability to care for the needs of our spine patients as part of Dr. Patel’s health care team. I enjoy working with Dr. Patel and our team of medical assistants and physician assistants to care for patients with different spine conditions. My duties here at the spine center include scheduling spine surgeries, going over preoperative and postoperative teaching for patients that are undergoing surgery, as well as counseling patients over the phone and tending to their issues. Spending time with patients and building a trusting rapport is important to me. This allows me to provide a positive patient experience which gives me a lot of stratification. I believe it helps meet positive patient outcomes. In my leisure time I enjoy traveling to different countries, learning about their culture and history. I love spending time outdoors and going on hiking trails in different national and state parks around the United States. I also enjoy going to music festivals and exploring different genres of music.
I started my healthcare experience in 2005 working as a certified nurse assistant in the cardiac critical care unit and the emergency department for 11 years. I then explored new opportunities as a licensed workman’s compensation adjuster for several years, until I was offered a great opportunity to work with Dr. Ashish Patel as his medical assistant at Duly Health and Care (formerly DuPage Medical Group). When you visit the Spine Center, I will be your first point of contact in the clinical setting. At that time I will obtain a background and history of when your spine issue started. On non-clinic days I assist with triaging patient phone calls and assist with all questions and concerns to meet your needs. I value every patient experience by educating patients on their spine health whether it is surgical or non-surgical intervention. I believe patient communication is important especially through the recovery stages of surgery so the patient’s expectations are met. I enjoy physical activities such as running and cross-fit. I take joy in spending time with my family, cooking on the grill, and playing a fun game of bags. In my leisure time, I like to explore new recipes and share them with family and friends.
My training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, a leading orthopedic hospital, created a strong desire to educate my patients regarding their neck and back condition, as I believe a well-informed patient can better participate during a joint decision-making process. I am focused on maximizing the overall patient experience and streamlining high-quality spine care for my patients.
